Month: February, 2015

A busy year ahead!

It has been a hectic few months in our house, not least since I appear to like coordinating releasing new books with releasing new babies, and I’ve gone and got myself knocked up again. No slacking mind, I’ve got ideas coming thick and fast for Book 3 and a teeny tiny passport application ready to roll!

In the meantime, here’s Book 1 and Baby 1, what feels like a lifetime ago, hanging out before TRADER’s launch.

TRADER on Tour… Happy Valentine’s!

Still get a kick when lovely friends and readers send me photos and stories of TRADER on its travels, or out and about in bookshops around the world. Thanks so much, you lot. Keep ’em coming! Happy Valentines! x

September release confirmed for THE ROAD TO RANGOON

I’m thrilled to bits this morning to finally have a date for Book 2’s release. Yay! THE ROAD TO RANGOON will be out in the UK and Commonwealth on September 3rd 2015, and if you’d like a sneaky peak at the story, here’s what my published had to say, below. I look forward to bringing you updates soon. No prizes to anyone who spots that the cover still needs work!

“In 1980s Burma, the British ambassador’s son goes missing.

Discovering himself in the north of the country, Michael Atwood is in imminent danger, trapped between sides fighting a bitter civil war and with no way back to Rangoon. His best hope of salvation is to trust Thuza, a ruby smuggler who offers to help him escape.

Beautiful and deeply scarred, Thuza has spent her entire life in a frontier town between rebel and government forces, never choosing a side but trying to make a living from both. For Thuza, the ambassador’s son is her ticket out of poverty. For Than, an ambitious military officer, exploiting those caught in the war offers an opportunity for promotion and distinction.

But as all three learn to their cost, in this enigmatic and savage country, everyone has a price.

From the heart of Burma’s exotic Rubyland comes an emotional thriller, as three lives are thrown together by the desperate choices they make to survive in a country gripped by civil war: a tale of ambition, salvation and hope that confirms Lucy Cruickshanks as a master storyteller.”

Lean, mean, proofing machine!

Just a little bit of proofing done this weekend… No wonder my brain is utter custard now! But I’ve *finally* managed to meet a deadline and all 125,000 edited words of THE ROAD TO RANGOON have been submitted to my publisher. YAY! Here’s the latest version of the beast, and just a few of its previous incarnations! Happy Monday, everyone. Look forward to sharing an extract very soon!
